About Bot Receipts
The internet is full of “my AI bot made $X overnight” screenshots. We rebuild those bots and show the receipts: every trade, every drawdown, and the free prompt.
Method
- Backtests are hypothetical. They are simulated on historical daily bars (Yahoo Finance via yfinance), with signals on the close, fills at the next open, slippage charged, and $10,000 starting capital. Backtests can be overfit and do not predict the future.
- Intraday re-runs: when a viral bot used intraday candles, we also run it on 15-minute / 1-hour bars. Free intraday data only covers about 60 days (15-minute) and about 2 years (1-hour), so those runs are short and labeled with their exact window.
- Forward paper runs apply the same unchanged rules to new data only, starting on a fixed date. They use simulated fills (and later an Alpaca paper account). No real money is ever used.
- When a viral post is vague, we publish our assumptions on the bot's page.
- Affiliate links and sponsored tests may fund the site. They never change results.
Disclaimer
Paper trading results, not financial advice. Every number on this site is a simulated backtest or a simulated forward paper run with no real money. Past or hypothetical performance does not predict future results. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
Bot Receipts is an independent data and education site. It isn't a broker, investment adviser or financial planner, and nothing here is personalized advice or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or crypto asset. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Simulated results have inherent limitations: they don't reflect real execution, liquidity or emotions, and they benefit from hindsight in strategy design. Do your own research, and consider a licensed professional for advice about your situation.
